This painting reflects on my memories of going back to Fuzhou, China every year to visit relatives. Specifically, it showcases the quintessential tradition of my grandmother peeling mangosteen, a fruit originating from southeast Asia, for my sister and me. Even though she does not have much, she always shows her love for us through this small action.
